Poem I Wrote:
Here are a poem I wrote a few years ago:
It was just the other day I saw him in the park
He was there when the day first start
On his skate board doing tricks till it’s dark
Even though we were close we seemed far apart
Whether it was the age or our differences, We were on separate paths
I chose to be good, go to school and learn subjects like math.
But him, he chose to be a rebel, dropout and become bad.
But I remember a time where it wasn’t always like that. Back then, we were so close as kids
I still remember the fun and adventurous things we did
Playing in the forest, our treehouse or frog hunting in the old ditch
I looked up to you and you protected me from the cruelness of our world
Even after our whole life went in a whirl
You and me used to ride our boards
Doing tricks at the park and each others stunts we record
You told me back then “You’ll always be here,
And help me whether were far or near”
Remembering that still brings me to tears
As we grew to our teens you began to get cold
Like light was replaced by darkness in your soul
You told me you had the problems under control
If only I knew that was a lie you told
I know times were rough with our parents and era
And you fell into that life to keep us afloat
You never said it, But I’ve already known
About the crimes you commit and the laws you broke
You did it so I wouldn’t suffer the pain
Even though you knew there’s no way out of that game
I look back and remember how far we came
And I’m glad we were able to see better days
I just wish you were hear to live to see the same
You said you wouldn’t go back to that chaotic life
If only the world was really that nice
I love you big bro, thanks what you did for our family and me
I just wish I could relive the old days that I still dream
I’m glad that now you can fly high and free
But it still hurts to see your chalk outline in the streets
Why Emotions Behind The Poems Are Important
Whenever you here a poem being read, there is always that one line or even the whole poem where you stop and say “Wow, I felt that”. That’s when you
begin to wonder why that line stuck out and hit you on an emotional level? The reason is because that poem had emotions behind it when it was written and
how it was expressed. Whether it’s for a happy or a dark poem, it is always important to have emotions behind your poems. Although, people think
emotions are mainlyused and specific kinds of poetry such as narrative poems or sonnets because what how they are structured, they need those emotions
to provoke and emotional response from the reader or listener. While that is true, emotions are not specifically exclusive to those forms of poetry only. All
forms of poetry are filled with emotion, but has different ways of expressing that emotion. For example, free verse is usually thought of as writing a poem
that doesn’t follow the traditional format. This is because is a open form of poetry that doesn’t rely on patterns, rhymes, musical patterns or has to be done
in a rhythmic format except the natural rhythm of speech. However, this form of poetry does involve one of the same things that all the palms have in
common, and that is emotion behind the words. Having a emotions behind free verse poem’s is what keeps the reader or listener wanting to hear more of
the poem. Even though this form of poetry is looked at as a laid-back version of other poetic forms, the main reason why this form of poetry is so popular is
because it allows the writer or speaker to express themselves and use emotions an free manor in order to connect to people as if they were actually having
a personal, sad or deep conversation. Without emotions being channelled into the words, poetry would lack much of what makes it so amazing. Let’s look at
Shakespeare and his poetry as an example. If he didn’t channel any emotional energy into his poems, would did they still be good? Will still be
remembered as and amazing body of literary work? And would it still be talked about this day or would Shakespeare sonnets still exist? Probably not, that
emotional depth that was added in Shakespeare’s poetry is one of the main factors of why his poems were so good. So whenever you write poetry, make
sure you channel your emotional energy into your word. You want your audience to be engaged with what you have written and feel connected to those
words in a way that they never felt connected to something before.
